Principal's Message

Welcome back to the 19/20 School Year!

I am excited to continue to build relationships with the Larson Community in my second year as principal at Larson Heights Elementary.  We have a few new faces that I would like to introduce. Rachel Putnam is joining our team as the resource room teacher, Christi Snyder has joined the 4th-grade team, Marlena Tolon has joined the 3rd-grade team, and Kimberly Ransom has taken over our music program. All are energetic and highly qualified teachers who chose to make Larson their home, so please join me in welcoming them to our family.

To start the school year we have a few goings-on that you may not be aware of yet:

  • We are in our second year of the Ready Math adoption and our students made some truly impressive growth last year. We have very high hopes for the second year and we will continue to teach the common core standards (what is learned) but it may be a little bit different format than you may be accustomed.
  • The Boys and Girls Club will continue daily from 3:30-5:30, please make sure you get your child signed up. Forms are available in the office.
  • Larson Heights will continue to have quarterly awards assemblies and monthly attendance incentives as well as different visiting assemblies.
  • We will continue to have multiple family evening events. Keep your eyes on our school calendar and facebook for the announcements.

Thank you for trusting the Larson Staff with your child’s learning and we look forward to seeing you at all of our family activities. We are committed to creating a caring community dedicated to the success and well-being of all.

Thank you,

Karen Schotzko
