Principal's Message

August 15, 2023

Hey there, Larson Heights families!

It's that time of year again – back to school! We're so pumped to have you all back with us. And to those of you joining the Larson Heights Elementary Community for the first time, a big, warm welcome to you!

At Larson Heights Elementary, we are dedicated to the children in our care as we strive to nurture their academic, social-emotional, and physical growth. We are excited for you to be on our team! As part of our ongoing process of improving Larson Heights, we underwent a comprehensive needs assessment in the spring of 2023. This process involved Larson Heights Staff, Families, and incorporated feedback from last year’s Fourth and Fifth Grade Students.

At the end of that process, we identified three goals - improving student learning in math, improving student learning in reading, and improving student attendance. To go along with these goals, we’ve started the process of planning activities in order to ensure that these goals are achieved. We will continue to add activities throughout the year - some of which we invite you to join us in.

Speaking of joining us, I’d like to invite you to our Open House on Monday, August 28th. We’ll start at 5:30 in the gym with staff introductions and some information about the upcoming school year. After that, you’ll have time to meet your child’s teachers. As a reminder, this is a meet-and-greet type activity and not intended to serve as a conference; please be mindful of the other families who would like to meet their child’s teacher.

Who will your child’s teacher be? You’ll find that out on Friday, August 25th. In order to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Moses Lake schools will no longer post class rosters as we have done in the past. We are in the process of finalizing a plan to let you know who your child’s teacher will be and will let you know how that’s going to work prior to the 25th.

Thank you for your continued partnership with us as we work to do great things for our students!

We. Together. Our.
